I attended the festival that was in Cuidad Rodrigo near the border of Portugal.  It is one of the oldest carnivals in Spain and was held in the Plaza Mayor.

So I know there are many mixed feelings about the Spanish tradition of bullfighting. As an animal lover, I am against this practice because of the horrible treatment of the bulls. I snapped a few pictures, but my eyes were closed most of the time and boy was I moving in my seat! I had to leave about halfway in, and I would not go back for a second time.

However, the festival itself was fun! People were playing instruments all throughout the streets and everyone was wearing crazy outfits. If I only had one word to describe the atmosphere it would just be chaotic. It was basically a giant party in the street.
